BUSINESS / RECORD
Maliko Rukia sells chapati and tea at the entrance of Lodonga’s market. Chapati are Ugandan typical breakfast. Do you want to know how to make them? It is very simple: Maliko mixes wheat flour, water and salt. She divides the dough into small portions. She deep-fries them and ready!
Yumbe is a rural region in northern Uganda along the border with South Sudan. It is a very poor area where the local Marian Brothers congregation works, promoting educational and agricultural projects. Some years ago, they began a microcredit program with women in the area. Very improvised women are making progress, and with them their families, in diverse businesses that they have launched.
